A weekly guide to the foods that are cheapest and best at the moment, by D. L. Crimp-a hotel manager
Last August Howard Godfrey brought a newly-formed combination to the microphone-members of his Waldorf Hotel orchestras, both straight and dance. Regular broadcasts were to follow, but the war intervened.
Godfrey left the Waldorf to carry out watches on the south-east coast as a member of the Observer Corps. This morning, during his time off, he is back with his septet on the air for their second broadcast.

Alexanderina Malloch
Mrs. Malloch is proprietress of that famous Highland inn, the Kings House Hotel, which lies at the head of the Pass of Glencoe. There are probably few travellers through the Highlands who have not at one time or another called at her hospitable door.
Mrs. Malloch was born and bred in North East among entirely Gaelic-speaking people. This afternoon she is going to speak about her childhood, and to recall the traditional ways of life and customs that still remain in the Outer Hebrides.

Scene: The living-room of the Gerbachs' flat in Berlin, 1938
Production by Howard Rose
Matters are not minced in this stirring and tragic story. The treatment of Jews under the Nazi government has been sternly cruel in many individual cases, and this play might well be said to represent a typically tragic cast.
Concentration camps and suicides may not make bright listening, but it is unlikely that many listeners will remain unmoved by this tragic, dramatic statement.
