A play by G. K. Chesterton , adapted by Douglas Cleverdon with Richard Goolden as Father Brown
The play produced by W. Farquharson Small
Harry Druce is walking his dog Nox on the sea-shore. He throws his stick into the water for Nox to retrieve. But at 3.30 the dog stops swimming, throws up his head, and howls.
At 3.30 precisely, Colonel Druce is found dead in his summer-house a quarter of a mile away. ' The dog ', said Father Brown, ' had everything to do with it, as you'd have found out if you'd treated the dog as a dog and not as God Almighty judging the souls of men.'
