Listeners will not have a chance of seeing Albert Whelan take off his gloves with that inimitable nonchalance of his, but probably they will smile with anticipation when they hear his whistled signature tune-the tune with which he has been identified ever since 1901.
Whelan, a broadcaster of nearly fourteen years' standing, has been headlined at music-halls all over the world. His first professional appearance was in a tent on the Australian goldfields. Since then, in his own words, he has ' played in everything except Shakespeare'.
