Although Dale Smith is a man of Cheshire-he was born in Stockport -it is appropriate that he should be the soloist in this programme because of his associations with Lancashire. He was a student at the Royal College of Music in Manchester, served throughout the last war in the 42nd East Lancashire Regiment, and broadcast for the first time fifteen years ago from a marquee in Trafford Park. He was a t>ioneer broadcaster from 2ZY.
