1/5. Expert Oz Clarke attempts to educate Top Gear's beer-swilling James May about the pleasures of drinking wine as they take a six-week road trip through France's vinous delights.

In the Bordeaux region, the sceptical student learns to appreciate the nose on individual bottles and faces his first test: at the immensely posh Chateau Pichon-Longueville he has to talk about the wines he samples. Moving on to the spectacular, rugged terroir of Languedoc-Roussillon he tries his hand at traditional wine-making methods such as foot stomping and ploughing a vineyard with a mule.
