The second of a three part series chronicling the story of reggae. Rebel Music. A look at the seventies' "roots" period, an era of political upheaval in Jamaica and social commentary in music which saw Bob Marley become the country's greatest superstar. As this programme illustrates, it also saw the birth of dub with King Tubby, the continuing influence of producer Lee "Scratch" Perry, the unlikely alliance between punk and reggae, as well as lovers' rock, a peculiarly British take on reggae. Among those bearing witness are Jimmy Cliff , Bunny Wailer , Burning Spear, Rita Marley , Gregory Isaacs and John Lydon.
