Sir Michael Bishop has already shelled out mere than 11 million to keep the D'Oyly Carte opera company afloat but now he has decided that enough is enough. One of Britain's wealthiest men and chairman of British Midland Airways as well as the opera company, Sir Michael reckons the Arts Council should grant funds to keep Gilbert and Sullivan's shows on the road.
This absorbing series follows as the Council responds with cash in one hand and a loaded gun in the other. They will stump up £250,000 for a tour of Britain provided arts consultant Richard Crossland is allowed to investigate the company and decide whether it has a future. Could this be the final curtain for the D'Oyly Carte opera?
