A series about the natural history of North America.
Alaska, vast and remote, was the white man's last frontier, but for the native peoples of America it had been their first.
For centuries the American Indians and the Eskimos of Alaska depended on nature.
They hunted caribou, salmon, whales and walrus, and shared the bounty with brown bears, bald eagles and killer whales.
Wildlife lured white hunters who came for the pelts of sea otters and fur seals, and for whale and walrus blubber.
Now that oil is being drilled, will today's Americans protect their last great wilderness?

Second of a three-part series charting the story of gay life in Britain since 1918 through the tales of gay men and lesbians.
The late forties and fifties brought fear, repression and imprisonment and the gay community went underground. Despite living double lives, many were able to form lasting relationships, such as Sharley McLean, who left her conventional family life to be with her lesbian partner. The men and women who lived through this time talk about the culture in which they lived, the people they loved and how the battle for law reform was fought and finally won in 1967.
