In his film, exile Hoshmand Othman returns to his native Iraqi Kurdistan to find out how his fellow Kurds are trying to reconstruct their lives after years of brutal repression by Saddam Hussein 's regime. This moving and often painful journey of discovery, explores the fragile democratic state being created and calls for international support for Kurds as a self-governing people.
