The Story of Saturn
When the planet Saturn was first examined telescopically in 1610, it was believed by Galileo to be a triple world. Only later was it found that Saturn has rings.
Patrick Moore looks back at some of the strange old ideas, and shows what can be seen this month with a small telescope when Saturn is best placed - with its rings wide open. Producer PIETER MORPURGO

Tonight Arena shows again its unique television interview with the writer
Jean Genet who died in Paris last month. Genet's first novel, Our Lady of the Flowers, written in prison, moved Jean-Paul Sartre to declare him a saint and martyr. At 75, Genet remained a self-declared outcast, unrepentant about his past as a thief and prostitute, still questioning society's expectations. In an impassioned outburst, he denounced even the interview itself as 'a piece of bad theatre' and turned the tables on his interrogators. Directed by NIGEL WILLIAMS CHARLES CHABOT (R)
