with Percy Thrower from Hodnet Hall, Shropshire
Hodnet Hall is best known for its man-made lakes and water gardens created by Brigadier Heber Percy, father of the present owner. This evening, therefore, Percy Thrower concentrates on aquatic and marginal plants and deep-water oxygenating plants. He also deals with the seasonal care of chrysanthemums and dahlias.

Short Story
A journey to the seaside, a cab, a train, a small hotel, a film crew on location and the search for someone once imagined... This is a film about the celebrated short-story writer William Trevor, who has a new book published this week - and it's more like one of his own stories than a portrait of a writer. It tells of his thoughts and the events on his way to try to find "the general", a character he created now given life once more by an actor, Alastair Sim, in a forthcoming BBC television play - "The General's Day".

Seven Years to Learn to Paint an Egg
Believe it or not, that's how long it takes! Egg-painting is just one of the extraordinary crafts in this rare film of present-day Chinese at work in Peking, still making the intricate ivory and jade objects for which the Chinese are traditionally famous.
