As the cricket season nears its completion Lancashire face the near incredible prospect of winning all three major England titles - the Championship, the Gillette Cup and the League. As defending title holders in the League they have maintained their ascendancy of last year to such an extent that they had only been beaten twice by the beginning of August - but in the last few weeks Warwickshire have emerged in the League as one of the counties likely to challenge them.

During today's tea interval, at approximately 4.0 pm, Lord's Taverner Eric Sykes will read extracts from Herbert Farjeon's Cricket Bag.

Frank Bough introduces the programme which includes news of all today's other cricket fixtures: Essex v Derbyshire, Gloucestershire v Kent, Hampshire v Glamorgan, Leicestershire v Northamptonshire, Middlesex v Surrey, Nottinghamshire v Somerset, Worcestershire v Yorkshire

Samoa, a tropical paradise in the South Pacific, is now faced with an agonising challenge.
The challenge is what some people call Progress, in this case American-style, complete with camera-toting tourists, educational television in every classroom, and an expanding economy that may be in conflict with Samoan traditional values.
