Two of the finest cricketers in the world captain these two County sides - Brian Close, whose inspiration has been such a strength to Yorkshire that they have won the Championship title three times out of the last four years, and Garfield Sobers, the great West Indian all-rounder who now leads Nottinghamshire in their bid for County honours.

During today's tea interval at approximately 4.0 pm Lord's Taverner James Ellis (right) reads the story "Herecombe v Therecombe" by Herbert Farjeon.

The chateau contains a complete replica of Holmes's room in Baker Street and it was here that Joan Bakewell talked to Adrian Conan Doyle about his father, Sherlock Holmes, and the foundation he now runs.
