The High Chaparral is the home of a pioneer family in the newly won West; is the prize the settlers must hold against outlaws and Indians; and spells adventure in the wild Arizona territory of 1870.
Buck and Manolito are angry victims of the most serious crime in the West-their horses are stolen. They trail the thieves into dangerous outlaw territory and find their troubles have only just begun.

"Today's teenagers are probably the healthiest group of adolescents this country has ever produced" - a psychiatrist.
But what are the problems of growing up? Is adolescent rebellion normal? What about depression? Does the 'perfect family' exist? Are parents always wrong? In tonight's programme these questions are discussed by two psychiatrists, adolescents themselves, and their parents.

This week's programme in the series on man and science today.
Every day there are 135,000 more mouths to feed. Can they be fed? Scientists are optimistic. Using techniques ranging from the genetic manipulation of wheat to the psychological manipulation of sheep, they are convinced that world food production could perhaps be trebled.
They can offer synthetic proteins and improved plants while suggesting the domestication of new animals, farming fish or even fermenting cassava ... yet half the world still starves. Why?
"I've been in countries where the technical solutions were well known, but sheer political inertia, the deadweight of tradition, ignorance, and often lack of leadership have prevented anything happening" (Dr Pereira, East Mailing Research Station).
