1/2. A performance of Sowieso, the first of two thematically linked works by trumpeter and composer Markus Stockhausen. These pieces, specially commissioned by the BBC, bridge the gap between jazz and contemporary classical music. Son of the famous composer Karlheinz Stockhausen , his own work is more lyrical and gentle, as exemplified on his acclaimed albums for the ECM record label. For this concert, given at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival in April this year, he is joined by Angelo Comisso on piano and Christian Thome on drums. With Jez Nelson. The second part of the commission, Any Way, can be heard on Hear And Now tomorrow at 11pm
