In a concert recorded last night at the Anvil, Basingstoke, Russian conductor Yakov Kreizberg leads the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in Bruckner's final symphony. With its dedication "To my dear Lord" and an other-worldly "farewell to life" Adagio, this must be one of the great visionary utterances of all time.
Before this, Stephen Kovacevich explores the elusive, deeply expressive world of one of Mozart's most popular concertos. Stephen Kovacevich (piano),

Food Session. Tenor-saxophonist lain Ballamy brings his Anglo- Scandinavian ensemble, Food, into the studio to record tonight's session. With Arve Henriksen (trumpet and vocals), percussionist
Thomas Stronen and Mats Eilertsen on bass, and all players making use of electronics and samples, the ensemble mixes the Scandinavians' approach to space and texture with Ballamy's idiosyncratic approach to melody and harmony, producing thoroughly contemporary, delicate and engaging improvised music. And Jez Nelson reviews the best new CD releases.
