Lovano talks about his childhood and first experiences of music in Cleveland, Ohio, and early work in the bands of Woody Herman and Lonnie Smith. His own projects have included collaborations with drummer Paul Motian , guitarist Bill Frisell and composer-arranger Gunther Schuller.
