Along with his colleague Charles Bordes , d'lndy formed the Schola Cantorum in Paris with the aim of reforming the practice of sacred music. D'lndy was also involved in overseeing the re-organisation of the curriculum of the Paris Conservatoire and the public acclaim he was accorded extended well beyond the borders of France. The acclaimed piano virtuoso talks about the rewards and pitfalls of performing chamber music in a programme which includes BBC Archive recordings
Kovacevich made during his electrifying partnership with Jacqueline DuPre during the sixties. He also talks about how he set out to learn new repertoire by Bartok and Stravinsky, and the problems of playing at the Proms with the piano sliding along the platform. Introduced by Petroc Trelawny .
