Lucie Skeaping takes a look at the varied music making that was going on in a typical German town around 1685 - the year Bach was born. Music ranges from the popular fare of the town's musicians and guilds, the private music making in homes, the public music of the church, through to a special kind of music written to be heard from the top of the town walls.
