This week's Russian theme continues with Tchaikovsky's final symphony, one of the most concentrated expressions of despair in the orchestral repertoire. Its passion is matched by Sibelius's Nordic drama, and there is a Proms anniversary celebration of the 75th birthday of maverick composer Luciano Berio with the UK premiere of his new trombone concerto.
