Michael Berkeley's guest today is television journalist and newscaster John Suchet, who is also the author of The Last Master, a three-volume fictional biography of Beethoven. His musical choices include two Beethoven excerpts - a late string quartet and a vocal quartet from Fidelio - as well as music by Wagner, Verdi and Canteloube. Plus Louis Armstrong and his Hot Five playing Ory's Creole Trombone.

Jez Nelson introduces tonight's concert from inspirational Swedish player Esbjorn Svensson with his trio, EST. The group, featuring Svensson on piano alongside Dan Berglund (bass) and Magnus Ostrom (drums), have a truly inventive take on the classic piano trio, and their current release, From Gagarin's Point of View, has amazingly reached the Top 20 of the Swedish Charts.
