John Thornley presents traditional Latvian folk songs about love, marriage, spring and the pre-Christian customs of the summer solstice, with choral and instrumental groups such as llgi (which means "The Souls of the Dead"), the children's choir Mazie Suitini and the experimental folk group Rasa ("Dew"), who play with sawn-off ski-sticks, bottles, metal tumblers and wooden bugles.
