In this second programme on the music of George Russell , Ian Carr discusses The Jazz Workshop, his triumphant first album as leader, recorded in 1956. Russell composed all the pieces but did not play on the album. The pianist was Bill Evans , with Hal McKusick (saxophone) and Art Farmer (trumpet).
