The Court of Louis XIV The Chapel Royal
Louis XIV, ' Le Rol Soleil ', ascended the French throne in 1643 at the age of five. From then until his death in 1715, he remained king-enveloped in what has become an almost legendary grandeur. He collected around him a host of talented musicians, artists, writers and Intellectuals.
Among the musicians were Lully, Delalande and Couperin, and this week a programmes feature music by them and others.
