Norman Rodway has always been stage-struck: he has vivid memories of taking part in The Gondoliers during his childhood in Ireland. Since joining the Royal Shakespeare Company he's played many leading parts, including a memorable Richard III , and appeared regularly in films and television. Music keeps him sane, he says, and he has a weakness for the piano: his choice of records this afternoon includes HOROWITZ playing Scarlatti, SCHNABEL playing Mozart, KEMPFF playing Schubert, and CORTOT playing Chopin. I Norman Rodway stars in Tycoon, which begins on Monday BBC1 7.20 pm. feature; page 4)

Since the successful band 10cc broke up, two of its members, KEVIN GODLEY and LOL CREME, have begun producing adventurous, challenging music which is unique in today's popular spectrum. With their new album L from which Derek Jewell begins playing tonight, they have achieved a standard which gives them a claim to being the most creative and original force in British rock. There's more music too from a band changing direction, THE WHO, together with the guitar artistry of LEE RITENOUR and the songs of NANCY WILSON.
