Continuing the series devoted to Vivaldi and his Venetian contemporaries. Today a motet by Vivaldi probably written for one of his pupils at the Ospedale delta Pieta. There are also works by Bonporti, who had much of his music published in Venice, and Benedetto Marcello , a lawyer and councillor in the city. Both men described themselves as ' dilettanti di musica' which in those days simply meant that they composed music for pleasure and not for money.

A radio comedy for graduates by Jonathan Raban.
With David Buck as Gavin Trotman, Stephen Murray as Alec Grace

Trotman: 'Pass. P. Sans honour of any kind. By the way, I think Griffith's mark may be affected when he hears that Arkell can't even spell "Leavis". In his Lawrence answer he dropped the A throughout.'
The tutors of a provincial university are gathered round a conference table to decide the final degrees of their students, Running the moderns course is the cynical and promiscuous Trotman.
