Opera in three acts
Music and text by Leos Janacek (sung Tn Czech: records)
Janacek's fourth opera, Osud, was written just after Jenufa, between 1904 and 1906. when the composer was in his mid-50s. The work was originally based on an episode in Janacek's life: in the opera the autobiographical element is never explicit but the character of Zhivny has all the intensity of a self-portrait.
