The Songs of Francis Poulenc
Poulenc kept a song-writing diary, recording his feelings about all his songs. The title of his diary has been borrowed for this biographical series, which creates in 13 instalments the most complete picture of Poulenc yet assembled for broadcasting, largely in terms of his progress as a songwriter. Performances are a mixture of the newly-taped and historic recordings. Much of his other music is included too, as well as works of his contemporaries and other music that mattered to him.
Written by the young accompanist. Graham Johnson , produced by Elaine Padmore and presented jointly by both, with Philip Monnet as Poulenc. 1: Enfant de troupe

The American Involvement in Vietnam
Presented by Michael Charlton There's no question that there was a breakdown (of discipline) at the time of the incident there at My Lai; but of course this is very small compared with the massacre of civilians in Hue" by the North Vietnamese ... The My Lai incident was a most regrettable one. The orders were clear. Every soldier had a card on how to treat an enemy in his hands. This was a case where the leadership fell down ... This is a sad chapter, but it was an aberration. There was not an incident comparable to that during the course of the whole war. (GENERAL WESTMORELAND) 6: Gulliver in Lilliput
Michael Charlton interviews the Commander of American Land Forces in Vietnam. General William Westmoreland , about fighting the war.
