Harold Hobson , drama critic of the Sunday TVmes, declares 'the music that most profoundly stirs me is more than a frontal attack on the senses. I mean the music that expresses, illuminates and enriches the things in my life that are important.' Even so, he still finds that Wagner can delude and abolish judgment, and he includes the love duet from Tristan und Isolde in his choice of records, which ranges from chansons by LEO FERRÉ to music by Mozart and Tippett.
