At the end of 1972, the poet NORMAN NICHOLSON wrote a series of letters to an old friend dealing with contemporary events in Millom, an isolated town in North-West England. As a result, and without being planned this way. the letters reflect the changes Nicholson noticed when forced to look at his home town afresh.
