Introduced by John Maddox
Is the positivist view of science tenable? Gunther Stent , Professor of Molecular Biology at the University of California. argues that the human sciences need a quite different philosophy.
1 I think the difficulty with psychology is that it attempts to be a science - rightly so - but for the psychologist to deny the concept of the person, to deny the concept of the self, as the behaviourists have tried to do, is ludicrous because they deny the very phenomena they are trying to explain.'
