Second of a series of three talks by WILLIAM GUTTERIDGE
Mr. Gutteridwe describes how the defence forces of the British Empire were transformed into national armies when the colonies became independent. He also stresses the effect of a British military education on the ideas of young African and Asian officers after their return home.
Mr. Gutteridge was for fourteen years an instructor at the Royal Military Academy. Sandhurst, and Is now Head of the Department of Languages and Modern Studies at the Lanchester College of Technology, Coventry.
