Historical Drama: The Gathering Storm 9.00pm BBC1
If you needed proof that Albert Finney is a great and versatile actor, you could do no better than to watch his performances in this glorious feature-length drama in which he plays Winston Churchill: he is Churchill. It's not just the cane and the familiar bulldog jowls - even in the scenes where he's naked, Finney still manages to convey the man's power and stature. Not surprisingly, Finney won an Emmy for his performance.
This is definitely worth seeing again. (Jane Rackham)
