Southampton v Tottenham Hotspur
Glenn Hoddle takes Spurs to former club Southampton in an all-Premiership third-round FA Cup tie (kickoff 5.45). Although both sides are hoping for a European spot through the league, the FA Cup will probably be their last chance for silverware this season. Southampton, under Gordon Strachan , have built a formidable home record this season but will be keen to avoid a repeat of the two sides' last cup clash - a 6-2 away win for Spurs in 1995. John Motson provides commentary on the live coverage from St Mary's Stadium. Producer Phil Bigwood ; Editor Paul Armstrong FA Cup highlights in Match of the Day at 11.15pm

Medical Drama: Casualty 8.20pm BBC1
Christmas in Casualty is always hell, but the past two weeks have seen an extraordinary number of traumas in Holby's A&E department, and not just those that arrive by ambulance. The staff are up to their stethoscopes in personal tribulations.
Colette is desperately trying to avoid Josh - which is tricky as he's her husband - while Duffy turns into a giggling schoolgirl every time Ryan comes near her. Jack's dodgy dad continues to cause him problems, the ever-optimistic Anna goes on yet another blind date, and Fin and Comfort are looking distinctly smug about their rekindled romance. But this episode concentrates on the patients.
It features a guest appearance by the splendid Peter Vaughan as an old soldier with a dark secret. Let's hope his "death bed" confession will teach at least one member of the staff that sometimes it's better to mind your own business. But it's just as well that Lara is obsessively nosey. A young mother brings her sick baby in, but, although the child quickly improves, she just as quickly deteriorates. Lara is so frustrated that she can't work out what is wrong with the baby, she turns to Donna, a paediatric nurse on secondment, for help. (Jane Rackham)
