[Photo caption] DCI Tanner (Clive Owen) needs the help of Dl Tully (Claire Skinner) to keep a secret In Second Sight
Drama: Second Sight: 9.00pm BBC1
Clive Owen stars as tough-talking detective Ross Tanner in a two-part thriller that heads into dark territory when he leads a team investigating the brutal murder of a student. "Murder inquiries are a marathon, not a sprint" he tells DI Catherine Tully (Claire Skinner), the equally ambitious graduate who joins the team as his deputy. As the case develops Tanner needs to rely on her more and more after discovering his sight is threatened by a rare eye condition. There is no shortage of suspects and the victim's family background throws up uncomfortable echoes of Tanner's own life. Written by Paula Milne, who wrote The Politician's Wife and Chandler and Co, this is an ambitious, good-looking thriller that seeks to reach beyond conventional police drama.
