How many sexes are there?

Dr Stephen Whittle argues that society should recognise far more than just two sexes and meets people who say that they are neither male nor female.
Arthur is a married man who is neither one sex nor the other. He does not want reconstructive surgery, but just to be accepted as he is. Joan Bakewell asks if society is simply too rigid in its recognition of just two sexes.

Note: as Heart of the Matter is topical, its subject matter may change.
