International football from Wembley as England play Nigeria.

England play their sixth match under coach Terry Venables who will want to maintain his unbeaten record and secure his fourth England victory.

Opponents Nigeria were one of the most popular teams at this year's World Cup, winning their group before being beaten by eventual runners-up Italy in the second round after extra time.

Meanwhile there is European championship action from tonight's qualifying games where the other home nations are on duty and bidding for places to join host nation England in the 1996 finals. In group six Northern Ireland play the Republic of Ireland in Belfast, a rerun of the World Cup qualifier which ultimately took Jack Charlton's Republic side to America this year. In group eight Scotland are at home to Russia, and in group seven Wales play Georgia.

Commentary John Motson and Trevor Brooking.
