"This is not another
Morse or Taggart insists producer
Neil Zeiger. "It may be about policeman, but it is not a police series. The strength Is In the character and if that works the series will work."
This pilot episode introduces
Detective Inspector Charlie King (Brian Cox back from St
Petersburg and his Grushko character), a deeply religious man who doesn't drink, smoke or appreciate swearing. So when a serious heart condition forces him off the streets he promptly refuses the offer of a desk job and the promise of promotion.
This is where the real story begins, according to Zeiger. When a secret team of negotiators offers him a job we are faced with a real "will he, won't he?" situation as Charlie
