Football's most glamorous occasion introduced live from Wembley by Desmond Lynam.
Manchester United, seeking a Premiership/FA Cup double, are making a record-equalling 12th appearance in the final, and if they win they will also share Tottenham Hotspur's record of eight victories. For Chelsea it is a fourth final, with their only success coming in 1970 when they beat Leeds United.
Alex Ferguson's United, with the skill of players like Eric Cantona and Ryan Giggs, will start favourites, but Chelsea, under the watchful eye of manager Glenn Hoddle, have weathered a mid-season crisis to reach Wembley. The goals of Gavin Peacock have been crucial during their cup run.... and also in Chelsea's two victories over United in this season's Premiership.

Ten years ago, Britain's greatest comedy partnership was ended when Eric Morecambe died at the age of 58. Ben Elton introduces the first of three programmes celebrating the genius and enduring popularity of Morecambe and Wise.
Each of the programmes concentrates on one aspect of their working relationship, starting tonight with a look at the notable guest stars who appeared in Eric and Ernie's television shows. Glenda Jackson, Cliff Richard, Diana Rigg and John Thaw assess the duo's cultural achievements and pay tribute to the dramatic genius of Little Ern.
Next week's programme centres on the bizarre "domestic" life that Eric and Ernie enjoyed in their cramped flat and shared bed.
