Joan Bakewell returns with the topical series that examines contemporary moral and religious issues. Over the next eight weeks, Heart of the Matter will report on the attempt of the evangelical "ex-gay ministry" to change sexual orientation of homosexuals, and the implications of new medical possibilities for women over 50 to conceive babies. Later the series investigates the morality of wide pay differentials and the decisions of parents of seriously ill children when further painful treatment offers no certain cure.
