Enjoys Kingstone Lisle , Oxfordshire with Robin Butler.
The architect of Kingstone Lisle broke all the rules to produce a most magnificent hall with a flying staircase and classical figures, yet still managed to retain an intimate family atmosphere. In this unique setting, Arthur Negus shares his love of furniture, silver and glass with his friend and colleague, Robin Butler. Still very much a home, Kingstone Lisle contains beautiful 17th- and 18th-century cut glass, as well as a collection of miniature furniture, and one or two surprises.

HRH The Prince of Wales introduces the second showing of his personal view of architecture.
Few documentary films have had more impact than the Prince's outspoken challenge to 'the architects, planners, politicians and developers who inflicted terrible damage on the country's unique towns, cities and villages' and his vision of a better future.
This Omnibus programme not only filled the nation's headlines but became news all over the world. It attracted thousands of letters of support and created a furore within the architectural profession that, a year later, shows no sign of abating. Now there is to be a Vision of Britain exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum and a book - all of which will further fuel the great public debate about the sort of Britain we are building today.
The film contains not only the Prince's criticism of 'the fashionable theories of a professional establishment who have made the layman feel he has no legitimate opinions' but his own deeply felt desire to see again an architecture that respects nature, human scale and traditional materials, and above all acknowledges that 'man is more, far more, than a mere mechanical object.... he has a soul'.

Produced by CHRISTOPHER MARTIN (R) ('Omnibus: A Second Chance' tomorrow at 10.20pm)
