Cliff Michelmore sets off on a series of six journeys from Canterbury to Hexham via Launceston and London to meet some interesting people at home on Sunday.
He begins at the Old Palace in Canterbury, the home of The Most Rev Robert Runcie , the 102nd Archbishop of Canterbury. The Archbishop is known for his sometimes controversial contributions to the national debate on social issues. He is perhaps less well known as a tank commander in the Second World War or for his Liverpool childhood. Tonight he talks about these experiences as well as his role as Archbishop and chooses some of his favourite religious music. It includes '0 thou who earnest from above', the Russian
Contakion and "The day thou gavest', and is sung at St Faith's Church in Great Crosby, which the Archbishop attended as a boy.

Choices are taken at every significant stage in life, either by us or on our behalf, in acquiescence or in protest, by individuals or by society.
A new series of Choices asks what forms these crucial decisions - religion, culture, education or self-interest? Do we decide only for ourselves or should we feel bound to choose for the good of our families, our neighbourhood, our country or the world as a whole? Is it possible to learn from the practical experience or the theoretical wisdom of others and formulate a moral code for modem man to help us make the best choices for our lives?
In the first programme of the series, No God but God
Rabbi Julia Neuberger asks Bamber Gascoigne , Gerald Priestland , Walter Schwarz and Bishop Maurice Wood about the choices we face when embracing religious belief. Should we make religious choices on behalf of others? Is it permissible to evangelise in a multi-faith society and should we be protected from our freedom to hand over religious choice to the demands of cults and religious communities?
