Motor Racing - 1970
There are many motor racing fans who wish that Crystal
Palace was still famed for its exciting four-wheel contests, as it was in the 60s and early
70s.
They have nothing personal against Messrs Coe , Ovett and Cram, but to knock down their circuit to make way for an athletics track was, in their view, going a bit far!

French Grand Prix from Le Castellet

Les Francais love their autosport nearly as much as the Italians, despite never producing a world champion. Le petit Alain Prost has come close - missing it by just un point last year. Victory here aujourd'hui would keep him en route to that elusive French goal.

This week Cliff Michelmore visits the London home of Paul Jones and his wife, Fiona Hendley. They met first in the National Theatre production of Guys and Dolls.
Fiona played the part of Sarah Brown , the Salvation
Army lass, while Paul played Sky Masterson , gambler and city slicker. As Fiona puts it: 'In he walks really cool - a gambler and everything bad. And he falls in love with this Christian girl and becomes a Christian.' Life imitated art: Paul and Fiona's choice of music, recorded in All Souls,
Langham Place, includes hymns and songs sung at their wedding.
THE MERRIBELLS sing 'What a mighty God' and 'Alleluia', and Paul and Fiona join them for 'God so loved the world'. The musical director is NOEL TREDINNICK.
