The true story of Dr Samuel Mudd who unknowingly helped the injured assassin of presIdent Lincoln - an actor named John Wilkes Booth. In the frantic aftermath to the murder Mudd was arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment on Shark's Island - a notorious penitentiary.
His incredible ordeal and the attempt by his lawyer and wife to save him from a living death form the basis of this made-for-television film. It is a testament to the incredible strength of a man who was posthumously exonerated over 100 years later by President Carter.
