In 1711 John Scott founded a small herring-boat building firm that was to become one of the great shipyards on the Clyde, providing work for thousands. But just over a year ago the Scott Lithgow yards faced the axe and the loss of over 4,000 jobs.
Tonight Ian Gall meets some of the local Christians who were directly involved in the struggle to preserve hope and save the yards. They join congregations from many of the Inverclyde churches in the Old Kirk to sing their choice of hymns.
