The fantasy film, starring

Three scientists are exploring the ocean in a bathysphere when a volcanic eruption severs their cable. But they are saved by the unexpected appearance of the Alpha, a highly advanced submarine commanded by the seemingly ageless Captain McKenzie. With him they journey to Latitude Zero, an underwater city where scientists work for the good of man. But McKenzie is opposed by the evil Malic the Murderer and an exciting adventure begins involving a magnetic mountain, monster rats and a giant gryphon with a human brain....

Two of Hollywood's tough guys are reunited with the director of The Dirty Dozen in tonight's film set in the 1930s depression era. Marvin plays A-No 1, Oregon's top railroad hobo.
