David Dimbleby, Robin Day, Angela Rippon and the Election team assess the state of the parties and prepare for the 150-or-so results still to come, including all the results from Northern Ireland. As we wait for those declarations we shall be bringing you details of the largest Election survey ever carried out in Britain, a survey which will tell us the secrets of why Britain voted the way it did.
The BBC/Essex University Survey, conducted by Gallup and analysed by Ivor Crewe and Robert McKenzie
Colin Chapman will be at the Stock Exchange to sample reaction in the City and BBC outside broadcast units will be spread around the United Kingdom from Downing Street to South Down, the seat of Mr Enoch Powell.
