Omnibus brings to life the world of the great surrealist painter Rene Magritte with the first showing on television of a highly acclaimed film from the London Film Festival. Using ' live ' animation, old silent movies and dramatic re-enactments, David Wheatley , now a regular producer for Omnibus, spent three years as a film student making this biography. He built the sets, designed and operated all the special effects and the result is a highly personal impression of this extraordinary artist.
Readings from MAGRITTE by CHARLES KAYE
As an introduction to the film George Melly contributes a personal reminiscence of MAGRITTE with rare film of the painter at his home in Brussels.
