The first of three programmes Harvest at Great Gaddesden
' I love the sort of atmosphere the harvest creates -it draws the whole of our village together. Although we're only half-an-hour from the centre of London, at harvest time we could be a century away here in Great Gaddesden.'
Last September's harvest at Great Gaddesden was a good one. At the harvest supper, held in one of the barns, all the farm workers agreed that there was plenty to celebrate.
From the outside, life on this traditional country estate may look socially out of date and politically out of fashion-but maybe they prefer it that way.
For us all, harvest is the most reassuring landmark in the countryman's year.

John Carter journeys around Kerry, Clare and Mayo basking in the baronial life-style of top quality hotels, while Kieran Prendiville goes Dutch with a group of youngsters taking go-it-alone holidays-going it alone, that is, without their parents. In the studio up-to-the-minute holiday advice, comments and information.

Joseph Kotcher is not the baby-sitter that Wilma would choose. In fact her father-in-law, a 72-year-old widower with maddening and eccentric ways, is altogether a bad influence on her baby. Perhaps he would agree to settle in a retirement village ... just for three months.
In this touching comedy. Jack Lemmon makes his directing debut.
