Raymond Brooks-Ward talks to three people who have had considerable influence on the writing of the record books of last year's equestrian events.
HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, President of the International Equestrian Federation, himself an accomplished polo player until he retired and now a leading exponent of three-day event driving; Lucinda Prior-Palmer , who made history by winning both Burghley and Badminton three-day events in the same year, retaining her European Championship; and Eddie Macken , who was denied the European Show Jumping title by one tenth of a second, was first and second in the Hickstead Derby, and won the Grand Prix at the Horse of the Year Show for the third consecutive year.
